This itinerary covers three days of photography to update and expand your current image library, including passenger lifestyle, scenic exteriors, rail bike coverage, the McCaysville and Copperhill layover experience, and coverage of the Blue Ridge Trout Festival and Trout Trot 5K.

Morning
Chief Vann House — Historic Site
Morning visit to Chief Vann House, one of the most significant Cherokee landmarks in the region.

Rail Bike Check-In
Red caboose next to depot. Arrive 45 min before 2pm departure. Tickets, waivers, gear staging.
2:00 PM
Rail Bike Excursion
90-min, 5.7-mile electric-assist roundtrip. Streams, vineyards, North Georgia pines. Guide pauses halfway for photos. Coverage: ride experience, scenery, rider interaction.

Depot Exterior & Route Scout
Depot coverage and confirmation of Friday exterior positions — road crossings, river bends, bridge locations, drone terrain. Note drive times between positions.
7:31–8:16 PM
Evening Golden Hour — Depot & Downtown
Locomotive at the crossing, depot building, and signage in authentic evening light. First light 6:29am / Last light 8:42pm.
Friday, April 24 · Primary Exterior & Drone Day

Morning Golden Hour — Depot Aerial & Static Exterior
Tentative — Drone aerial of downtown Blue Ridge and depot yard. Ground-level depot and locomotive in early morning light. Stage and confirm positions before 10am. First light 6:27am.
Train Dep. 10:00 AM
4-Hour Excursion — Outbound Pass
Position at Location #1 (Toccoa River corridor) before 10am. Train alongside river, green meadow, mountain backdrop — hero exterior drone shot. Reposition to Location #2 during McCaysville layover (~11am–1pm).

4-Hour Return Pass — Location #2
Catch return train at second pre-scouted position. Bridge crossings, river bends, or elevated terrain.
Train Dep. 2:00 PM
2-Hour Express — Outbound & Return Passes
Full route, no layover. Position at Location #3 for outbound, hold or reposition for return. Afternoon light adds warmth across the corridor.
7:32–8:16 PM
Evening Golden Hour — Depot
Locomotive at the crossing in evening light. No trains running — clean depot and signage shots. Last light 8:43pm.
Saturday, April 25 · On-Train, Trout Fest & Trout Trot

Tentative — Drone aerial and ground-level locomotive exterior before passengers and festival crowds arrive. First light 6:26am.

4-Hour Excursion — On-Train Coverage
Open-air and climate-controlled cars. Key shots: children at windows, families enjoying scenery, conductor with kids, wide interior car shots, river visible through open windows.

McCaysville / Copperhill — 2-Hour Layover
Blue Line state border with families, steel truss bridge, Toccoa-Ocoee Street dining and shopping, Riverwalk Shops. Candid and natural moments throughout.

Return Ride — Detail & Atmosphere
Detail frames: hands on rail, conductor at work, landscape through windows, passengers relaxing on the return.
2:00–6:00 PM
Blue Ridge Trout Fest — Downtown City Park
130+ vendors, fly-fishing demos, climbing wall, kayak demos, gem mining, axe throwing, food court and beer garden. Live music on the Sound Stage 3–6pm. Crowd energy, vendor interaction, and festival atmosphere. $10 admission.
6:30–8:17 PM
Trout Trot 5K & Evening Golden Hour — McCaysville
Runners cross the historic steel truss bridge over the Toccoa River through McCaysville and Copperhill. Bridge crossing, river backdrop, finish line energy — all in evening golden hour light. Last light 8:44pm.
