My first visit to Gettysburg. I just didn't know it yet.
Telling
Gettysburg’s
Story,
One Frame
at a Time
I'm Dave Johnson, a photographer and visual storyteller who, along with my wife Rachell, has made Gettysburg a second home. I've been visiting this place most of my life, but it wasn't until around 2018 that I really started to understand its weight , what happened here, and why it still matters.
I work with some of the most respected organizations in the region, including Destination Gettysburg, the American Battlefield Trust, the Adams County Historical Society, the Gettysburg Railway, the Gettysburg Film Commission, and the Dobbin House Tavern, providing everything from event coverage and aerial documentation to print licensing and behind-the-scenes production stills.
It all started with family trips here as a kid and returning later in life with a camera and a growing interest in history. As I journeyed the battlefield and streets of Gettysburg, my photography grew alongside my understanding of its place in our nation's history. An early opportunity from the owner of the Dobbin House Tavern helped set everything in motion, and every season since has brought something new. I'm still learning, still exploring, and still finding new reasons to come back.
I'm also building a YouTube channel to share these adventures and bring people along for the ride. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube at @GettysburgImages.
